• Stockton is located in the central valley region of California and is the 17th largest city in the state. Before it was incorporated in 1850 the city changed names several times including ’Tuleburg’, ’Gas City’ and ’Mudville’.

• The City was built and inhabited during the period of California Gold Rush (1848-1855), when American Carpenter, James W. Marshall found gold at Sutter’s Mill in Coloma, California.
• The city was named Stockton after Robert F Stockton who was instrumental in the capture of California during the Mexican American War.
• Stockton became the first city in the state to have a name that was from Spanish origin.
• The University of the Pacific is situated in Stockton and it was founded in 1851 in Santa Clara which later moved to Stockton in 1923. The University is regarded as the oldest University in California.

They transcribe anything said and then broadcast the resulting text to a phone, computer, or TV screen.

CART is often seen as a cost-effective and efficient way to ensure everybody can follow along. While often used to help deaf students in the classroom, CART captioning benefits anyone that can read.  Much like ASL interpreting, it can be done both onsite with a physical transcriptionist or remotely with an offsite one.
