Bulgaria as a richly diverse cultural community
The Bulgarian language is an Indo-European language spoken mainly in Bulgaria but also in other eastern European countries. Bulgaria is well known for its natural beauty, Bulgaria features notable diversity with the landscape ranging from the Alpine snow-capped peaks in Rila, Pirin and the Balkan Mountains to the mild and sunny Black Sea coast. This richness in natural wonder gives Bulgaria a rich hold in mineral resources, the country possesses relatively rich mineral-resources, including vast reserves of lignite and anthracite coal; non-ferrous ores such as copper, lead, zinc and gold. Nature and minerals isn’t the only thing Bulgaria offers; it is rich in culture, fine arts and most importantly, food. Famous for its rich salads required at every meal, Bulgarian cuisine also features diverse quality dairy products and a variety of wines and local alcoholic drinks. Traditionally, Bulgarian cooks put lucky charms into their pastry on certain occasions, particularly on Christmas Eve where there may be little trinkets inside a Bantista awaiting the lucky diner. Because of these healthy combinations of attractions, Bulgaria has enjoyed a substantial growth in income from international tourism over the past decade and continues to climb.
The Development of Bulgarian
The development of the Bulgarian language can be divided up into several historical periods: The prehistoric period; Old Bulgarian, common Slavic language from which Bulgarian evolved; Middle Bulgarian, a richness in literary activity and Modern Bulgarian, present day written Bulgarian as we understand it. In 886 AD, Bulgaria replaced its old runic alphabet of the proto-Bulgars with the Glagolitic alphabet, which was devised, by the Saints Cyril and Methodius in the 850s. Most letters in the Cyrillic alphabet were borrowed from the Greek, Hebrew, and Glagolitic and Gothic alphabets. In present day, Bulgarian is written in the Cyrillic script (and occasionally Latin) but only for public signs.
Articulation of the Bulgarian Language
The sound of Bulgarian is specific to Latin and Greek. Most letters in the Bulgarian alphabet stand for just one specific sound. Three letters stand for the single expression of combinations of sounds, the names of the letters are simple representations of their phonetic values. Vowels get complicated due to the complex use of semivowels, consonants and hard and partialized consonants. It is here that a skilled translator is needed to accurately and professionally translate the Bulgarian language. American Language Services is proud to possess the finest translators in the business to aid in any translation needs.
