In November, on the 1st of the month, many Catholic churches in the U.S. celebrate All Saint’ Day; a day to honor all the Saints. It is widely celebrated in many areas within the U.S, especially where the Roman Catholic’s have large populations. The day can also be referred to as All Hallows’ day as the day is closely linked with Halloween on October 31. November 11 is Veterans Day, and is a federal holiday to honor all those who have served in the United States Military Services. The day marks the anniversary of signing the armistice, which concluded WWI between the Allied nations and Germany in 1918. This day is usually celebrated by parades and church services along with a period of silence.

Some interesting historical tidbits that occurred in November are: the first medical school for women opened in Boston on November 1, 1848, on November 6, 1860, Abraham Lincoln was elected as the 16th U.S. President and the first Republican, ‘King Tutankhamun’s tomb was discover at Luxor in Egypt by British archaeologist Howard Carter after several years of searching for it on November 4, 1922, an assassination attempt on Hitler at the Buergerbraukeller in Munich failed on November 8, 1939 and on November 9, 1989 the Berlin Wall was opened up after standing as a symbol of the Cold War for the last 28 years.

Interesting Interpreting & Translation Projects Completed in November
We recently completed an interpreting project for Bishop McCann; a meeting and events planning company for a conference with multiple addresses within Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts. For the 3-day conference Mandarin, Korean, Cantonese and Japanese interpreters were required as well as equipment including portable headsets and receivers and transmitters. The job was a huge success.
Another very interesting interpreting project was for Both Ends Believing, a Global Child Welfare Non-Profit. The project was a Child Protection conference in Washington DC lasting 5 days. AML-Global were able to provide excellent Spanish, French, Russian and Amharic interpreters along with a fully array of equipment including several sound reduction booths, portable headsets and receivers, transmitters and on-site technicians. The project went flawlessly.
Among many translation projects this month, we finalized a translation job for Karl Storz. The project involved translating a user manual from English into French and a Validation of Packaging Systems from German into English. AML-Global was able to provide excellent translators and the project was outstanding. Over the years, we have provided Karl Storz with translations from English into Spanish, English into German, English into French Canadian and French into English, often with an expedited time frame.
In November, we also completed translation projects for Infraredx, Inc; a company who specializes in medical devices. For 3 different lengthy documents, American Language Services were able to provide translations from English into Dutch, German, Italian, Czech and Korean. As always, thanks to our excellent translators, the project went well.
