Mother’s Day was created by Anna Jarvis in 1908 and became an official U.S. holiday in 1914.’ After Anna Jarvis’s mother passed away, she implemented this holiday to acknowledge the sacrifices mothers made for their children. She started a massive campaign to persuade prominent politicians and council members to acknowledge Mother’s Day as a national holiday. Her efforts paid off, but soon became appalled with the commercialization of Mother’s Day. The true meaning of this day is lost among consumer spending and profits generated from this day.
Even though Mother’s Day history is not so cheery, AML-Global acknowledges the significance of this day. May 8 is the perfect opportunity to honor and show appreciation for the women who raised and guided us. This is also a day to celebrate women in general and all the good things they do. Today we celebrate Mother’s Day by sending greeting cards, flowers, chocolates, fancy dinners, gifts, and doing something special for them.
