Xiantao is a sub-prefecture-level city in the east of Hubei province, China. Brief City History
Formerly known as Mianyang, Xiantao has a history dating back over 1,500 years and is one of the birthplaces of Jing-Chu culture. There is splendid culture to be discovered here with scenic spots and historical sites spread throughout the region, such as Shahu Lake National Wetland Park, the Mengli Water Town Tourist Area, the place where a fisherman supposedly cheered up the poet Qu Yuan with a song during the Warring States period, Wuletai built by King Ping of Chu, Mian Street and the Miancheng Scenic Area.
