Interesting Interpreting & Translation Projects Completed in February

We recently completed an interpreting job for Pixel Corps; an internet broadcasting company based in Northern California. The project involved a meeting over 2 days, where French, German, Portuguese and Dutch interpreters were required.’ American Language Services were able to provide excellent professional interpreters and the project went smoothly and the job was well done. In addition, we have provided Pixel Corps with interpreters before in other languages including Italian, Spanish, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Russian and Polish.

Another interesting interpreting project completed in the beginning of February was for The Obama Foundation. The foundation is non-profit organization based in Chicago, their mission is to inspire and empower people to change their world by equipping them with the necessary skills and tools they need. The foundation oversees the Barack Obama Presidential Center, runs the My Brother’s Keeper Alliance and offers scholarships to the University of Chicago. For the foundation meeting, several American Sign Language interpreters were needed, with our amazing interpreters the meeting was a complete success and went very well.

Many translation projects were finalized at the start of February including a project for the Torrance Police Department. The Torrance P.D. needed several documents translated from English into Korean, Japanese and Spanish. The documents were needed on an expedited basis and American Language Services was able to turn the project around quickly and perfectly.

Timely Tips

Some documents require Desk-Top Publishing (DTP), this executes formatting and the layout of translated documents along with specific fonts and images created into various software programs. DTP constructs the document to be a mirror image of the original. The client must send the original file they were created in. InDesign and Illustrator files are the most popular today. For the client; this means it’s less money and less time consuming than recreating things from scratch. The DTP programs must contain fonts, images, created for the original source.
