Happy Thanksgiving

The end of November is a busy time. Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the holiday season. It’s a special day and many celebrate with feasting, football and family. It’s a time to give thanks and to go shopping.

Although this time of year is slow for many, it’s been another big month of crossing cultures and breaking barriers for American Language Services. While others may have succumb to a “turkey coma,” we continue to serve our clients with translation, interpretation, transcriptions and media services.
We were recently asked to help out with interpretation services at Pepperdine University in beautiful Malibu, CA. Pepperdine is a long-time client of ours, and we’re proud to be their interpretation services provider year after year.

On the right coast we were in Florida, providing Spanish interpretation services for a conference held by Chemonics International, an organization that works in more than 150 countries, helping their clients, partners, and beneficiaries overcome challenges by working together to find and implement innovative projects.

Our Indonesian interpreters were also busy providing simultaneous interpreting for the Education Development Center (EDC) at events in Boston and Washington, D.C. EDC is a global nonprofit organization that creates learning opportunities for people around the world, empowering them to pursue healthier, more productive lives. It works with public-sector and private partners, harnessing the power of people and systems to improve education, health promotion and care, workforce preparation, communications technologies, and civic engagement. We also provided equipment for these events, including transmitters, sound booths, receivers and everything else needed for the best possible experience.

But our foreign language interpreters weren’t the only busy ones in November. Our American Sign Language interpreters were also hard at work. This time they were working in Anaheim, CA. Six interpreters were on hand at the Anaheim Convention Center for an event hosted by Educause, a nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education through the use of information technology. We also provided ASL interpretation services to Homeland Security in Washington, D.C. and Virginia.

American Language Services is a proud provider of translation, interpretation, transcription and media services to government at all levels, education, private industry and non-profit organizations. With more than 240 languages, thousands of linguists around the world and teams of dedicated professionals ready to serve, we’re ready to serve during the holidays and all year long.
