July’s Milestones in Language Access, Education, and Global Engagement
As the fireworks light up the sky this July, we are reminded of the values of freedom, diversity, and unity that define the American spirit. But for us at AML-Global, these values go beyond the celebrations—they are woven into our daily mission of breaking down language barriers and fostering inclusion across all sectors.
In a world that’s becoming increasingly interconnected, communication is the key to ensuring that everyone has a voice, regardless of their language, background, or ability. This month, we’re proud to reflect on how our work has supported the Deaf community, as well as the higher education, government, and corporate spaces. To commemorate Independence Day this month, where our forefathers declared, “All people are created equal and have certain unalienable rights, including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”, our efforts are dedicated to ensuring that the freedom of communication is accessible to all.
Join us as we celebrate the American milestones achieved this July and explore how American Language Services is making an impact by enhancing accessibility, promoting multilingual diversity, and supporting global engagement.
Fostering Inclusivity in Higher Education
Language services are indispensable in higher education, ensuring that all students, regardless of their linguistic background, have equal access to academic resources and opportunities. As universities become more diverse and globalized, effective communication in multiple languages is essential to foster inclusivity, promote equity, and enhance the overall educational experience. At AML-Global, we are deeply committed to supporting the efforts of higher education institutions in creating an inclusive environment where every student can thrive.
This summer, we were proud to provide comprehensive language services to several higher education institutions in California. For a university located in the heart of Los Angeles – a diverse and dynamic metropolis – we delivered simultaneous Spanish interpreting, translation, and media services, including voiceovers and production, facilitating clear communication and engagement. Additionally for another university in Northern California, we translated over 145,000 words into Chinese, Russian, Hmong, Vietnamese, Spanish, Portuguese, and Korean, ensuring essential information reached a wide array of students. We also supported a health-focused institute by translating materials into Dari, Farsi, Khmer, Punjabi, Creole, Burmese, Swahili, and Hebrew, covering more than 17,800 words.
Further broadening our impact, we partnered with a prominent university located in the southeastern United States, translating over 11,000 words into French and Spanish, while also managing various interpreting and voiceover/dubbing projects in Spanish for an international program. These efforts underscore our commitment to fostering inclusivity and helping higher education institutions meet the needs of their diverse student bodies. Through accurate translations and tailored linguistic services, we help create academic environments where every student can succeed.
Enhancing Accessibility: AML-Global’s Commitment to ASL Interpreting and CART Services Nationwide
At AML-Global, we recognize that inclusivity goes beyond language—it also encompasses accessibility for individuals who are Deaf or hard of hearing. To address this, we provide top-tier American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting and Computer-Assisted Real-Time Translation (CART) services, both remotely and on-site, ensuring that all individuals have access to clear and effective communication. Our multidisciplinary interpreters work across a wide range of fields, including education, government, medical, and corporate sectors. This versatility allows us to stand as one of the leading service providers for the Deaf community nationwide.
This past summer, we had the privilege of contributing to an event that embodies the values of inclusivity and global leadership. On July 18th, we joined the world in commemorating Nelson Mandela International Day, a day that honors Mandela’s legacy of promoting social justice, peace, and cultural diversity. n late July, AML-Global participated in the Mandela Washington Fellowship Summit in Washington, D.C., a program dedicated to empowering young leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa. At the request of a global development and education organization, we provided ASL interpreting and CART services for two Deaf members attending the event. By making such pivotal gatherings accessible, we contribute to the broader mission of enhancing global engagement and fostering leadership through communication access.
Beyond such prominent events, our services extend to key sectors nationwide. In the corporate world, we provided 8 hours of on-site ASL interpreting for two renowned global brands, enabling smooth communication during critical meetings. We also supported a large government agency by providing 10 hours of Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) ASL services, ensuring that Deaf participants could fully engage in important discussions. Also, our collaboration with a major consulting firm resulted in 37 hours of remote CART services, helping them deliver seamless communication to their diverse team members.
In the educational field, we were proud to assist a national education association with 8 hours of on-site ASL interpreting and provided over 14 hours remote CART services for a leading advocacy group, enhancing accessibility at both professional and academic levels.
With each of these projects, our commitment to inclusivity is reinforced, and our ability to deliver tailored services to diverse sectors showcases why AML-Global remains a trusted partner for ASL interpreting and CART services. We strive to create environments where everyone—regardless of their hearing abilities—can participate, communicate, and succeed.
How Language Services Bring Leaders’ Voices to Everyone
Effective political leadership is not only about decision-making but also about communication, and that means ensuring all citizens can engage, regardless of language or hearing ability. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 21.6% of Americans speak a language other than English at home, which highlights the need for inclusive communication strategies that reach every constituent. In addition, millions of individuals in the Deaf community rely on accessible services to stay informed and engaged in political discourse.
AML-Global is committed to supporting political leaders in their efforts to communicate effectively with all communities, including those who are Deaf or hard of hearing. Over the years, we have provided interpreting services for multiple presidential administrations, including those of Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and current leaders like President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. This month, we had the distinct privilege of assisting Vice President Kamala Harris with Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) ASL services, ensuring that her message was accessible to all citizens.
Our role in supporting political communication extends beyond language translation. We help bridge communication gaps, ensuring that the Deaf community remains informed and engaged with the developments that shape our country. Whether it’s through on-site ASL interpreting or remote services, we stand by the mission of making political discourse accessible to everyone, thereby enhancing inclusivity at the highest levels of leadership.
Our dedication to providing high-quality ASL interpreting and CART services, paired with our experience across various sectors—including politics—positions us as a trusted partner for communication accessibility. By making sure that everyone can participate in these critical conversations, we contribute to a more informed, engaged, and inclusive society.
Independence Day: A Celebration for America’s Multilingual Diversity
While the 4th of July, Independence Day, traditionally celebrates the birth of the United States as a nation in 1776, it also indirectly highlights the country’s rich multilingual diversity. The U.S. was founded on principles of freedom, inclusion, and the idea that people from different backgrounds could come together to form a new nation. Over time, this has led to a diverse population with a multitude of languages spoken across the country.
Immigration has played a significant role in shaping the U.S., and as a result, the country is home to people from a wide range of linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Today, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 350 languages are spoken in the U.S., and around 21.6% of the population speaks a language other than English at home. The 4th of July, while focused on American independence, serves as a reminder of the freedoms that include the right to maintain and celebrate cultural and linguistic diversity.
Multilingualism is a key aspect of what defines the U.S. as a “melting pot,” where different cultures and languages contribute to the nation’s identity. The celebration of independence on the 4th of July reflects the freedom to express and preserve these diverse linguistic and cultural heritages, making it a day that indirectly celebrates the nation’s multilingual diversity as well.
