The Czech language is unique and has very specific origins and characteristics.

Czech As the Government Protected Official Language of the Czech Republic

Czech is widely spoken by most inhabitants of the Czech Republic. It is protected by the government as an official language, unlike the United States and other western countries. As given by appropriate laws, courts and authorities act and make out documents and executions in the Czech language (financial authorities also in the Slovak language). People who do not speak Czech have the right to get an interpreter. Instructions for use in Czech must be added to all marketed goods. The right to one’s own language is guaranteed by the Constitution for all national and ethnic minorities.

Prague, Tourism and Marionettes in the Czech Republic

Czech is a West Slavic language with 12 million speakers spoken mainly in the Czech Republic and the Czech Diaspora worldwide. The Czech Republic is a landlocked country in Central Europe. Prague is the most famous city in the Czech Republic and one of the most visited areas in the world. It is known as ‘the city of 100 spires’ and the ‘pearl of Baroque’ Prague also has a lot of Baroque-style architecture. Another interesting thing about the Czech republic is the amount of castles it is home to. There are almost one thousand castles and ruins throughout the Czech country; forty of them remain well preserved and open to the public. The Czech economy gets a substantial income from tourism. Another fascinating thing to look out for when in The Czech is its world famous puppeteers and marionettes.

The Complexity of Czech

As in most Slavic languages, many words have many forms of inflections. This proves difficult for foreigners to understand or easily pick up the language; for example, some words do not appear to have vowels while some words retain silent vowels. Stress in Czech denotes boundaries between words, but does not distinguish word meanings. It also has no influence on the quality or quantity of vowels. Vowels are not reduced in unstressed syllables and both long and short vowels can occur in either stressed or unstressed syllables. This complexity makes it essential to obtain a translator screened and field tested by American Language Services to properly translate Czech.
